Living in or visiting Macomb is a cultural experience. Just north of the border from the Motown, Macomb County is home to a thriving cultural hub. Macomb is the birthplace of famous musicians such as Eminem and Kid Rock, and where many famous movies and TV shows were filmed, such as Alex Cross (2011), Family Weekend (2011), Detroit 1-8-7 (2010TV), Gran Torino (2008), and 8 Mile (2002).

Macomb is home to numerous museums, art galleries, dance studios and performing arts centers. Creativity is inspired here, and life is expressed and celebrated through a variety of cultural mediums. With events such as outdoor concerts at the Freedom Hill Amphitheater and the annual Mount Clemens Art Fair, there is something for everyone to enjoy in Macomb. 


Anton Art Center:  With a mission to enrich and inspire people of all ages through the arts, the Anton Art Center keeps a lively exhibition schedule, featuring local and regional artists, including several open-call exhibitions each year, extensive class offerings and other arts-related special events. The Anton Art Center is free and open to the public.

Michigan Military Technical and Historical SocietyThe Michigan Military Technical and Historical Society is dedicated to preserving the stories of Michigan citizens who served and sacrificed, here and abroad , from WWI to the present. Our 11,000 square feet Museum exhibits the actual equipment, weapons, uniforms and other artifacts that bear witness to the high cost of freedom.

Freedom Hill Amphitheatre: One of the region’s premier outdoor entertainment venues is Freedom Hill, which is once again paving the way for national talent to perform on a Macomb stage. The Freedom Hill Amphitheatre was renovated and reopened in 2013.  The popular Amphitheatre located on Metro Parkway near Schoenherr draws patrons from throughout the region and provides significant economic benefits to area businesses. Freedom Hill County park hosts numerous unique special events on a regular basis, including festivals, car shows, outdoor markets, special shows, dances and concerts.
